Animal cruelty and neglect remain significant issues in our community, affecting not only animals but the well-being of all residents, whether they own pets or not. To safeguard animals from situations of cruelty, abuse, or neglect, we rely on a dedicated team of fully trained and certified Humane Society Agents, appointed by the Pickaway County Court, to uphold their protection and ensure justice is served.
Our humane investigations team works diligently to end animal cruelty and neglect through education, investigation, and prosecution of offenders. Our officers are empowered to enforce the State of Ohio animal protection laws within the jurisdiction of Pickaway County (ORC 959). Improper care of animals, including acts of malice, lack of sufficient food, water, shelter and veterinary treatment, is against the law and may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of law!
To report a stray dog, contact the Pickaway County Dog Shelter at (740) 474-3741.
